The Process For Dreadlocks Extension
1. Book an appointment or phone/text/email to discuss what you’d like to have done.
2. Choose your hair preference — human hair dreadlocks or synthetic dreads. Further down this page we list the benefits of each.
3. Decide if you’ll source the dreadlocks extensions or you’d like me to custom make them. We can discuss the thickness of the dreads to suit your hair. You might want to look at other pages on my site that show different dreadlock styles so you can get an idea of the options available.
4. If you are having new dread locks done, avoid using any conditioners, gels or products that leave residue in your hair. The drier your hair the faster it is to dread your hair (important when you’re getting locs & dreadlocks extension put in during one sitting) and the stronger they will be.
5. Using a crochet hook we create tight, organic dreadlocks. We then take your short dreadlocks and sew in synthetic hair extensions or human hair dreads making a smooth texture between dread locks and extensions. This is where our expertise comes in. With washing, wear & tear and all the weight on your existing hair, the work of an amateur loctician can cause extensions to fall out. Lastly, we discuss dreadlock maintenance. You’ll be advised of dreadlock products to suit you as you go through various stages of locs maturing. We’ll also talk about styling dreadlocks or dread styles that suit your hair or the look you’re going for.

* I work out of my home but also offer a mobile dreadlocking service. When determining how much your extensions cost please take into account my travel fee if I’m coming to you. This involves $100 for travel up to 120 kms. For 120+ kms, contact me for a travel cost estimate.
